In the private sector, varmint hunters could certainly use this technology. Varmint hunters shoot small targets from long distances; they do so in large part to prevent damage to crops. That’s a reality.

I face attacks from hostile forces on a daily basis. I am grateful that technology continues to improve for the long range shooters who help keep me safe. In reality, much of the technology used by the military and private sector security is only made possible because the research is subsidized by commercial sales.

“Kill ‘em all and let god sort them out” is the exact opposite of what military snipers do.
“Kill ‘em all and let god sort them out” is exactly the ideology of the guys those snipers are shooting (and I mean that completely literally).

Regardless of one’s views of how the past should have been handled; I’m just hoping we can get the electricity working a little better and maybe a few more schools built before we pull out. To do that, I am glad that our snipers have the best and most precise tools to keep me from being killed, and prevent innocents from being killed.

Trillions of dollars are spent to create weapons that minimize collateral damage, this is an example of those efforts. If your preference is that we stop spending money to prevent collateral damage, I would imagine the occupants of Dresden, Nagasaki, and Hiroshima might have a different opinion.

The software does nothing one can’t do with MS Excel and a high school understanding of physics (experienced individuals do it in their head). Anyone with the base knowledge required to use this software would know that. The product’s usefulness is derived from its portability and speed of use.

This is not the sort of stuff you want out in the open-market my friend. Come back to reality… it’s not like someone is going to take these for shooting ducks!

So actually, it is a great idea. Providing that the iPod can stand up to the shock of being attached to a serious rifle when fired.
