Microsoft is currently beta testing a desktop collaboration service called ‘Tahiti’. Tahiti is amongst the many services being built on top of Exchange Server, Office Communications Server, SharePoint Server and Live Meeting.

The service is being developed by Microsoft´s Unified Communications incubation team and is expected to be positioned as both a consumer and business service.Tahiti will allow users to share documents and/or screen captures among groups, exchange handouts, and will across firewalls after signup via Windows Live ID. Users will can off course easily invite and eject buddies from collaboration.

There are no updates on pricing and the time line for public roll out. More details on the service are here
