image thumb39 Facebook: Christmas Apps Score High as December 25th Approaches

Social social social, there has been so much emphasis on the word and an excessive emphasis on its benefits that it used to bite me hard. Never liked anyone talking about it and now I am here, because it is important in every manner. We have seen so much revolve around the word that it will be pretty stupid for anyone to deny its importance. Now I am just dragging this one and getting into a lecture mode. Lets be specific and talk about the Social gaming.

I talked about Zynga’s Farmville in detail yesterday and how it continues to grow exponentially. And that is bound to increase as Christmas approaches and users get showered with more Christmas centric apps. What is this doing? Well there has been a marked improvement as Zynga got a boost of over 1.8 Million users everyday to crawl over 28 Million mark while, followed by Birthday Cards from RockYou, which climbed to 2.9 Million after it added another 1.7 followed by the third placed Quiz Planet which went past 1.2 Million daily users. Each of those apps has increased by over 50% but look at the drastic difference between Farmville at one and those at number two and three that is phenomenal and I am being humble here. But that isn’t my point of the debate here, given that those apps have been around for quite some time.

image thumb34 Zynga’s Farmville on Facebook: 70 Million Monthly Addicts and Growing Strong

Social Networking is seeing a boom and with it clings tight social gaming and its growing as rapidly as anything. I am not going to talk about social networks everywhere but stick to Zynga and its winning Farmville. While Facebook has long crossed the 350 Million mark, the game I hate to much has stepped past 70 Million farmers, I am so not calling them users!

70 Million monthly users, that is a huge number and I bet its just the beginning of it. The stats are way over my head, primarily because Zynga itself has around a 100 Million users. Plus the application for Facebook has crossed all limits with a daily user limit crossing 28.4 Million and it calls out loud to any challengers to give it a tough fight. Guess there is no one there to even think of it. Why exactly are people so crazy about it?

image thumb79 Zynga isn’t done with making social games for Facebook: Farm, Fish and now Petville!

Facebook was blocked in our office. Thanks Zynga for giving us Farmville and infesting every browser with virtual farms and keep all my colleagues occupied. Result, I have been deprived of keeping my social activity alive at work and it was pretty useful social networking I was involved in. It just happened today and when I go through some news I figure out Zynga now has another one; Petville. Why? I mean is this some new sort of addiction we will have to fight? Zynga has filed the trademark and will definitely be coming out with a whole virtual world for pets. Isn’t there anything better to do? and exactly how profitable is this? I guess it means a lot, but that doesn’t change anything for the admin at my workplace would be more concrete at not lifting the ban up.

funding thumb6 MyMiniLife acquired by Zunga

Zynga has been busy with releasing iPhone apps, raising funds and has been in news one way or the other. The social gaming network acquired MyMiniLife, a social entertainment company which helps users create and customize virtual worlds. The price for which the acquisition has been made remains undisclosed and so do the terms, however Zynga did confirm that it will be utilizing MyMiniLife’s technology and integrating both its technology and staff, since both companies have also worked together on FarmvVille one of Zynga’s popular games.
