image thumb76 Microsoft Bids Adieu To Brains Behind Xbox, Zune: J. Allard And Robbie Bach

A sad day for Microsoft as the software giant bids adieu to its pioneers J. Allard and Robbie Bach. Allard has served Microsoft in the capacity of CTO, Device Division and has seconded Robbie in the Entertainment division, which Robbie is a President of. The duo has been the main force behind Zune, Project Natal and the famed Xbox.

image thumb140 Microsoft waves goodbye to Chris Stephenson a couple of weeks before the Zune launch

There is the new Zune coming in September but Chris Stephenson can’t wait that long and has left Microsoft. He had been in charge of its global marketing for the music player. He will be joining Universal Music and will be leading the marketing for Interscope Geffen A&M Records. Microsoft had been doing quite well with Stephenson on board the Zune team and his departure just a couple of weeks before the release is quite surprising to say the least.

image thumb58 Microsoft is finally set to launch Zune HD on September 15

With all the trouble and anxiety it had caused with its launch date, Microsoft has at last given the final date for the Zune HD launch; September 15. Microsoft will offer two models, the 16GB Black Zune for $219.99 and the $289.99 32GB Zune HD Platinum with radio, web browsing, HD video output and touch screen. What makes Zune HD stand better than an iPod is its inclusion of WiFi streaming, Radio and a few other features. But I guess the coming of Radio makes it even more useful and might have more users grabbing the devices. The advance sales have already begun at Amazon and once the devices are in stores, there will be more colors to choose from. Lets see how it fares in the market that is more or less dominated by Apple.

image thumb104 Microsoft might bring Zune HD out by September 5

There are reports coming on about Zune HD. Those state the device might roll out in the first week of September. Uncomfirmed yet, but there is a high probability that Microsoft might launch it on September 5 this year. I just hope Microsoft takes the right amount of time and makes sure that Zune HD doesn’t have the same set of issues which the ancestor had.
