A close friend of mine recently complained about why exactly I avoid writing about Windows Phone and Nokia. To be honest, I haven’t been impressed by earlier Nokia Devices, owing primarily to the fact that the Operating System for the Nokia devices has been very lousy to say the least. I am now anxiously waiting for the much anticipated Nokia’s Windows Phone, which by all means has to be a game changer in the smartphone industry.

Windows users might just find this news lucky as the iPhone Dev Team confirmed a short while back that they will be releasing the Windows version of the Redsn0w. This will enable users on Windows to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 using the iOS 4.1 IPSW rather the iOS 4.2 Beta 3 firmware as well as the SHSH Blobs.
First things first, don’t expect the Windows release to breeze through like it does on the Mac OS X. The primary reason for this is that the Redsn0w 0.9.7 for Windows will be utilizing filesystem instead of the RAM. Here’s a bit of information shared by the deb team on the release: Read More »
There is quite a Microsoft stir lately, we missed talking about the recent 4 million Kinect units being sold, numbers which outsold the Nintendo Wii since its launch. The folks at Microsoft were however quite on the sales of the Windows Phone 7. To be honest I was thinking that the device had turned out to be a failure. The case isn’t so.
Microsoft’s Achim Berg stated in a press release that Microsoft sold over 1.5 million devices since its launch in the Europe in October and the US launch in November. The numbers, according to him are quite ahead of the expectations. at least for the first two months of launch. I for one would honestly side with his opinion given that only 40,000 Windows Phone 7 devices were sold on the launch day. But that’s past.

Windows 7 is really doing great as stats roll out stating that the OS is actually doing better than Snow Leopard Mac OS. The stats put Windows 7 powered PCs at 5.07% while the Mac OS X is just a fraction behind with 5%. While that is great to know, but it isn’t surprising given that Microsoft leads the OS market with a staggering 92% market share. But to be honest it has fared much better than its Vista and the latest OS continues to grow with a close to 4% monthly increase. I guess Ballmer was right on that when he was all excited with the performance of Windows 7 earlier.
