For those who find it impossible to push themselves to the limit by fearing unlocking their smartphone devices continue with a bulky preloaded carrier software. Which to be honest is useless [in my opinion], takes up a lot of your mobile storage and should be the first thing to get rid of. MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has shredded away all hopes for those of you waiting for the official iPhone 4 unlock on the 2.10.04 and the 3.10.01 baseband. He has confirmed that there will be no unlock available until the iOS 4.2.5 or iOS 4.3 [here’s a quick jailbreak guide for iOS 4.3 Beta]public release.

I totally missed this one out. George Hotz or commonly known as Geohot who is known for his iPhone jailbreak and exploits like Limera1n, etc has been sued by Sony Corporation.

Sheriff Hashim has hinted at the unlock for the iPhone 4 on iOS4.2.1 will be coming for users after Christmas. To put it more appropriately, we might have this by January, 2011. Sheriff Hashim is an iPhone Baseband hacker and an Egyptian Neurosurgeon, Hashim doing brainy work, somehow doesn’t surprise me.

A few moments back we shared with our readers the news of the unlock available for the iPhone 3GS and 3G and as always there is a guide on how to unlock the same. You will of course need to have a few things downloaded and ready to install.

We had talked about the coming of the newest unlocking tools for for the iPhone 3GS and 3G on the iOS 4.2.1. This would unlock you 3G and 3GS models on the 05.13.04 baseband. I guess it is clear for all that the iPhone 4 is not included since it has a different baseband for the OS.
The iPhone Dev team on their blog have written in detail regarding the unlock. One good bit is that this unlock might very well work on your iPad on 3.2.2. Although this has a baseband of 06.15.00 the Dev team specified that it has a similar exploit [AT+XAPP] like the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS. Users will be able to unlock it on their Mac devices using the PwnageTool with the redsn0w set to be released soon. We will be sharing the step by step procedure soon with you all, but for the time being we are sharing what the Dev Team has mentioned on their blog.

While the white iPhone 4 might be a rumor for good our friends across the blogosphere and on Twitter just confirmed that the iPhone 3G / 3GS unlock for all baseband will be rolled the coming Sunday. This release will be come accompanied with the Ultrasn0w update.
However there is one sad news, this unlock will only be available for the iPhone 3G and 3GS on iOS 4.2.1 [all basebands] users, meaning those with the iPhone 4 will have to wait a bit longer. We aren’t sure when exactly is this coming, but it will be soon enough I suppose. The news of the release was recently confirmed by the iPhone Dev Team’s MuscleNerd:

This would come with a 05.14.02 baseband and will be released when Apple releases the iOS 4.2. A couple of days at most.
