image thumb46 Facebook Out Performing…..Facebook: Month Over Month

I guess we can all predict the the traffic stats for Facebook, at least as long as something really bad doesn’t stop it from growing. I mean like Zuckerberg bragging about Facebook users to go public with their information. Coming over to the stats for December 2009, Compete puts Facebook’s traffic at over 132 Million unique visitors, rising from 128 Million back in November.

Now this just another milestone to add to the already numerous it has achieved in the recent past. Beginning from the massive user base that continues to grow all the way to developers of apps churning a lot of revenue to Facebook being the most search term on Google. The social network is far more superior that Twitter: almost six times that of Twitter in the US alone. Now that by no mean means that the two are comparable in anyway. Given that there is so much more you can do on Facebook without actually feeling the need to shorten links on other pages, etc.

image thumb22 Facebook Takes Another Bite Off Google: Most Visited Site In US On New Year

Wow, this is getting quite an air as Facebook continues to gain ever more popularity to get more closer to Google. We reported that Facebook was the most visited site during Christmas and today news broke out of it being the most visited site on New Year. This takes the total of such top visits to three in just under a fortnight. A great end to the year and an equally great way to begin the year with.

Although those stats are for the US only, but one can quite easily get an idea how rapidly is the site actually expanding. From where I see it, the social network would most definitely become the most visited site in the US before this year ends. At this point, comparing Facebook with its immediate competitors like MySpace, Orkut, etc sounds quite useless and it is time its competitors try and forget fighting with Facebook.

image thumb26 Scribd undergoing changes while traffic falls by 48%

With all the boastful claims of Scribd being the YouTube for documents, the news of its traffic falling by 48% baffles me. The site’s traffic has dropped from a very impressive 58.3 million to 30.1 million and this drop has been in a space of two months, beginning from June, 2009. Trip Adler, its CEO states the reason to be revamping of the site, primarily concentrating at making its copyright filter better and holding down its SEO, which as he states would bring down the traffic in short term but will prove to be better in the long run. If the changes are there to improve Scribd in the long run, then I bet more changes are going to be seen shortly.

image thumb18 Funds flow free for Ad Marketplace Traffic, raises $10 Million in second round

Traffic secured $10 Million in its second round of funding for its display ad marketplace. The funds came in from new investors, Grotech Ventures and Greenhill SAVP along with participation from its existing investor Court Square Ventures. The site offers buyers a place to negotiate and buy ads directly from publishers which include names like WhitePages, Shopzilla and Scripps Network. The funding will be used to better its platform and push further its marketing and sales.
