If you don’t have a Facebook presence, you don’t have much say the wise experts. Err, sorry that was my own but I am sure it’s quite a solid need for any firm out there. And when we talk about organizations, groups or institutions, a Facebook Page is more important to get the word out and share whatever is it that you do. Be it your blog on latest fashion, trends or a service, a Facebook page speaks a thousands words. Am I mixing sayings for my own purpose?

There is one thing why I dislike resorting to the use of aggregators and social bookmarking tools, they are usually unpleasant when it comes to user experience and make life miserable when it comes to searching for whatever you have bookmarked. And in all honesty it was one of the main reasons why I kept aside GenJuice from reviewing. But a day back I did visit the site, primarily because I needed to compile a post for our Startup Sunday and it was way beyond my expectations. To an extent that it has changed my opinion on social bookmarking services.

The Internet is helping us in multiple ways and I am definitely not going to narrate lines on how exactly. But a few people utilizing it to protect a language that is on the verge of extinction is indeed one of the best uses you can put the Web to. Busuu is one of them.
The startup had been created to prevent the Busuu language from extinction, which as of the present is only spoken by 8 people in a region of Cameroon. Honestly I didn’t know if a language by this even existed and that is by no means surprising. UNESCO has labeled the language as one the 3,000 critically endangered languages, which is why the folks behind Busuu [the site] though of initiating this startup to create awareness about this language. The idea is simple as they have used a decent layout for the site that lets you create songs, messages in the language and share them across with your friends. Again the whole idea is to spread the word around and muster enough people around to support the Save Busuu campaign.

It seems like I have never written a blog post before, especially after Startup Meme being out for almost two weeks. We sincerely apologize our followers on Twitter, Fans on Facebook and our email and RSS subscribers for such a prolonged down time. The issue? Well we were migrating our host provider, which means Startup Meme in no more on Media Temple and are now hosted on DreamHost.
We aren’t going to discuss on what prompted us to make the shift but our experience with MT wasn’t really impressive but that’s past. We will be starting off with our regular posting procedure in the next 24 hours so expect Startup Meme to be making noise with news and tips.

The last couple of days have been pretty hectic, especially for the fact that Startup Meme had been under attack and almost the links redirected to a malicious site. We discovered that the issue wasn’t just affecting us and many sites, including GoDaddy had been affected by the same. It has affected us badly and more importantly has caused our valuable readers a lot of problems.

There is nothing better than having your blog being mentioned along with others. Especially when the list is narrowed to Top 100, Top 50. We at Startup Meme have been working for over two years writing content and sharing news, the journey has been long and we are still new and learning.
However there have been some good news lately in the last few months beginning with Startup Meme being ranked at #16 in Entrepreneur Blog and #14 in Startup Category for 2009. What’s even more interesting is the fact that we are being listed by Evan Carmichael amongst the Top 50 Blogs to Watch in 2010, which is extremely motivating. All this has been made possible due to our loyal readers and followers, without them there would have been no motivation to write and more importantly Improve the blog over time.
