With all the boastful claims of Scribd being the YouTube for documents, the news of its traffic falling by 48% baffles me. The site’s traffic has dropped from a very impressive 58.3 million to 30.1 million and this drop has been in a space of two months, beginning from June, 2009. Trip Adler, its CEO states the reason to be revamping of the site, primarily concentrating at making its copyright filter better and holding down its SEO, which as he states would bring down the traffic in short term but will prove to be better in the long run. If the changes are there to improve Scribd in the long run, then I bet more changes are going to be seen shortly.
