image thumb60 Facebook To Generate $2 Billion In 2010, Phenomenal But Not Surprising!

$1 Billion revenue or a $4 Billion evaluation, all are a thing of past as new rumors break out of Facebook expected to generate around $2 Billion for 2010. If I am not wrong and if this by any means is true Facebook has more than doubled its revenue it generated in 2009. That is phenomenal, but not unexpected at least for me.

The social network has more than 500 million users and that continues to grow as more people fall prey to the intricate web of this platform. We have seen how Mark Zuckerberg and his team has taken Facebook from being a social place to a booming business with some bright strategy. Facebook’s virtual currency, advertizing, etc has had a gargantuan impact on the business of the network itself. For any business or advertiser it is a haven serving over 50 billion ads a month and that number is expected to reach a trillion by the year’s end.

image thumb56 Facebook Going Strong: $800 Million In 2009, Is 2010 Going To Bring A Billion?

I have perhaps got into the habit of writing excessively about Facebook lately and skipping a day without writing one post on the social networking site leaves me feeling empty. Call it a compulsion but Facebook is important to cover, which is why here is one for today.

It appears that the social network is very well set to pass the $700 million mark in 2010 and the reason to state is based on the revenue it generated in 2009. Facebook crunched in a healthy $800 million in 2009, well over the estimated $500 million it was predicted. Keeping the percentage increase in profits, Facebook might very easily cross the $1 billion revenue prediction for 2010. That is great news for Facebook given how the social network has been bombarded with allegations on leaking user data to advertisers, playing with user privacy. Such was an extent of user dissatisfaction that its founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg had to publicly apologize for the company’s lack of respect for user privacy.

image thumb4 $1 Billion In 2010 Might Just Be Easy For Facebook

New numbers are coming in as the social network, Facebook continues to expand rapidly and amass users. As of the latest analysis, the social network might end up raising more than the $700 million that were initially expected for year 2010. If this turns our true, we might have the social network hitting past the $1 Billion revenue range and that it might actually have bagged the predicted $700 million in 2009. Wow and I bet many folks out there are already trying to apply the Facebook model to their own setup.

The social network as we have been talking about has raised revenues from the content and activity on its platform. Be those ads by Microsoft which it has eventually pulled from the US, via brands on Facebook to selling virtual goods via crazy apps like Farmville and God knows what else. The virtual good market has already pushed past $10 Million since the boom late last year. Other than this, the social network is definitely getting serious about minting some revenue and keeping a firm grip on revenue matters itself. It has boosted its staff, which can very well mean that they will have more people working to enhance the advertising on the platform and devise strategies for the same. Other than that it has already got Facebook Credits system which take away around one third of what ever transaction is made using those.

image thumb28 Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Etc, Will Each Be Taxed In France

Why doesn’t it surprise me to hear that France is planning to begin taxing ad revenues that big names in the industry make most of user visits. The companies that will be taxed include Google, Yahoo, Microsoft and of course Facebook. Those names could bring in massive amounts of revenue that can be used to fund new projects.

The report states that the estimated revenues could mint as much as 20 Million Euros annually and all that from the US based Web giants. The money generated will be used for making the online experience better and of course for paying the artists who have their work scattered all across the Web. The idea is pretty appreciable given it would pay back those who make an effort to improve the quality of content online as well as providing even better content for the massive population.

youtube thumb YouTube upgrades Promoted Video, which means better promotion (and even more Revenue)

It hadn’t happened earlier but YouTube is now pretty serious at making most out of its reputation as being the largest online video site. The number of videos against which revenue is tapped has shot up and today it took another step forward. It released another feature that would help push such videos via YouTube Promoted Video campaigns, which will now appear right on the page of the video being watched. Is that something close to AdSense for YouTube? The idea behind this is to make sure that its partners benefit the most by boosting the revenue each can generate. To be honest this one has no doubts attached, with this kind of promotion right on the page you are watching the video is bound to have a very positive impact on revenue generation.
