image thumb103 Microsoft doesnt want to compete with anyone but itself in Mobile OS, to roll our Windows Mobile 6.5 and 7 together

It’s tough to live up to the challenge, especially if you are tipped against the innovation of the Android and the iPhone. Microsoft knows how tough it is and has taken its strategy to a different level as it plans to release two platforms to compete with Android and iPhone separately. Its Windows Mobile 6.5 will be for the Android while WinMo 7 will move head on to challenge iPhone. Come again please, what exactly is the purpose? I would have rather gone with all my bits and pieces after a newer version and forgotten about the traditional OS it has been offering. On the contrary, version 6.5 doesn’t look all that dry compared to the previous versions and it might just offer the right stuff for the many smartphones that run on Windows Mobile.

image thumb56 Grand Master is no Chess guru, but Apple’s Snow Leopard, all set to come earlier than expected

To be honest Apple should be done with its testing of its OS, Snow Leopard. Why so? Well Apple has already named its latest build the Golden Master, which I presume means it has passed all tests and should be given a go. But when is Apple releasing it? Amazon had already begun taking pre-orders but also mentioned that the OS won’t be available before September which is what Apple had told them. But with that label of the Golden Master, I agree with the reports that Apple might just release it before September, even if it’s in on 31’st August. The price for the OS is pretty low at just $29.9, the reason being that Apple considers it to be a performance upgrade and not a totally new thing. Even if it’s just that, those performance upgrades are going to be a lot to improve Snow Leopard. If you are wondering how you can go along with installation details, etc you can head on to AppleInsider (yes I am saving myself the burden of a walk through).

android thumb Google plans to invade Digital Homes with Android OS (will they now be called ‘G’igital?)

Google is all set to spread its Android OS far and wide, making sure it’s not something limited to running smartphones only. Presently, MIPS Technologies is said to be working on DTVs, home media players and set-top boxes that run on the Android platform. We might expect these Android based devices to make way by next year. We have already seen how Google is advancing its products by first making mentions of the Chrome OS  which is said to be fit for the web and its Android platform, which initiated as a mobile device OS, crawling pretty quickly to run other devices as well. I guess it’s only a matter of time before Google actually makes itself the dominant player when it comes to being the platform by choice on the Web, on mobile and now even home entertainment. Let’s just wait and see.
