There is nothing better than having a preview of what or where the link takes you to, given that so many of us use Google Maps to point out locations in our emails. Google has kept that in mind and introduced Google Maps preview in both its Gmail and the Google Buzz. Users will now be able to be able have a preview of the map links in the services.
The service is currently available to residents of the United States and will soon be followed by expanding the same Internationally, perhaps Pakistan too. The feature can be easily enabled by going to you Gmail Labs and then the Settings. From there you can enable it by selecting Google Maps Review. With this done you will be able to preview the map right in your email.
The biggest problem associated to moving to a new city for any reason is finding a place to stay, which is good and low at cost. While there are a lot of services out there to help you with that and travel agents for traditionalists, RoomAtlas is another startup to help you with that. A mashup to be exact but is better as it lets you search for places if you simply type in the name of the city and shows you the prices and locations of hotels on the map. It isn’t difficult to learn about the price as each is placed right on the tag.
With time Google continues to improve Google Map as it populates it with more places and landmarks. This means that when you perform a search in a city, Google Maps will point out restaurants, museums and other prominent landmarks all by itself. This is pretty helpful for tourists in a new city who can easily figure out what spots to visit and make most out of their trip. When they click a landmark, etc on the map, a window opens up and displays them the location, contact number and a brief description about the place along with a link to Wikipedia, making sure that the user knows where and what exactly is the place. A pretty good improvement as always and I bet Google will make it more effective in times to come. Perhaps making it more visual.
