Here goes another one from Yahoo as Microsoft hires Kevin Timmons. He was the head at Yahoo’s data center team and will be leading Microsoft’s Data Center Services. This is the second Yahoo exec that Microsoft has hired following the recruitment of Dayne Sampson. I guess Tim must didn’t quite like the idea of GeoCities being shut down by Yahoo earlier, which he was a head of.

While EA waved goodbye to one of its execs it welcomed John Schappert as its new COO. Schappert previously held the position of VP at Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business. This would boost EA as Schappert has vast experience with both the online and console divisions on the gaming industry. He would be taking position of the departing John Pleasants.

Playdom, the social gaming startup has got a big boost as it hired EA’s COO John Pleasants as its CEO. He would replace Playdom’s current CEO, Dan Yue who is also the startups co-founder and will switch his position as its chief product officer. The social gaming has made a big jump in the recent past and the company itself has divided its team into two that will individually develop games for different genres which include, RPGs and the usual titles.

International Game Technology, manufacturers of gaming hardware have made a key hiring as Microsoft‘s gaming exec, Chris Satchell  joins as its CTO. Chris had been in the same position at Microsoft, spending more than seven years in its division that handles entertainment business. His work included Microsoft Game Studios, XBox, XBox Live. IGT also has its branches in the online and mobile gaming sector apart from building gaming machines, both of which can utilize Chris’ vast experience.

Facebook has hired Grady Burnett, Google‘s head of AdWords. He will heading online sales at the social network and his responsibilities would include for the various tools used by users to create custom ad campaigns. This is another key hiring from Facebook which means that the social network is pretty serious about boosting its advertising department.
