For those of you who love the Android platform and the absence of it has been the primary reason why they haven’t shifted to the iPhone there’s good news. Developers have succeeded in brining the Android 2.3 Gingerbread to iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G and the first generation of the iPod Touch.
We reported about the release of the Backup Plan, Untethered Jailbreak for iOS4.2.1 with Redsn0w last Sunday and also shared a detailed guide on how to perform the untethered jailbreak. The release was actually a beta release of the tool and has been continually getting bug fixes of late. Today MuscleNerd announced another update for the Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta.
It was reported yesterday about James Whelton of NanoHack.me managed to hack the 6th Generation of iPod Nano. The developer has managed to give us more news with his step by step guide on how to remove apps and add spaced to the iPod Nano 6G.
Give it a break guys, at least don’t have Apple worrying about its iPod Nano being Jailbroken or having chances of getting this done. I can try and say what I want to but it won’t help the cause. James Whelton, a developer has managed to find a flaw in the device and has hacked the 6th generation iPod nano. The hack bypasses cache compression and enables users to create blank space with the installation of Springboard hack.
What this simply means is that users will be able to see more features being added to their otherwise simple music playing device. These would include Apps, Games, Movies, Calendars, etc. I must however clarify that Whelton has not yet jailbroken the device as well as there is no root access on the iPod Nano. However the progress that has been made has all the possibilities of a iPod Nano jailbreak coming soon. From Whelton’s blog: Read More »
I have just made a switch to Android to brand myself as a person with a smartphone and I am hooked. The extent is not just confined to using those addictive apps or games but almost instantly had me trying to figure out ways to root, hack and do all sorts of coding possible. Honestly, I know I am not really into all that but folks at XDA are all into this. The T-mobile G-2 has just been out and almost instantly the developer community has had it rooted.
The T-Mobile G2 by HTC comes with the stock version of the Android 2.2, which means there is not a lot you can. At least those developers think there needs to be some toying around with the code and get the device rooted. The method that has been used is temporary and the root access disappears right upon a reboot. It is therefore advisable that once you do make an effort just try not to restart the device or you will be repeating the whole procedure again.
I envy the guys at XDA. And I am being decent here with my language. They are almost always rolling out something new and crazy with all those hacks, jailbreaks, ROMS to add new life to your smartphones. At times before a device is actually made available in the market.
Coming over to the topic, the guys have come out with benchmark scores for the HTC Desire HD, which as we all know was announced only a few days back. From the very first impressions, the results are impressive and the HTC Desire HD outperforms the Google Nexus One on Froyo [Android 2.2] by miles. The updated Snapdragon MSM8255 Processor posted a Quadrant score of almost 2,000 giving just over 56 frames per second.
One thing that keeps me from buying an iPhone is that I have absolutely no idea how to run Android on the device. The reason being I love the Android for being the most powerful mobile operating system coming from Google and at the same time have all respect to the perfect hardware from Apple in the form of the iPhone.
I decided to Google out a few tutorials to see if there are better ways to hack the iPhone 2G primarily because it is dead cheap in the region and it wont hurt me if I tested the hack. I came across a few How To’s to get this done. It appears that folks at Linuxiphone and AndroidaLot have already put hacks to answer queries of folks like myself. The video below is quite detailed and explains the steps quite well. You can follow the instructions to be followed here.
AT&T is aware that it made a mess of user privacy, when a a group of Hackers by the name of Goatse Security successfully exposed over 114,000 iPad 3G owners emails. This happened right when the WWDC 2010 was in full sway. The carrier has apologized its customers in a letter sent out to them earlier.
