Don’t be addicted to technology. That’s what I would recommend to anyone who isn’t yet. The concept of waiting for the right device to make the purchase is a totally pointless thing to do. Why? Innovation. I guess it won’t be wrong to state that there is a new smartphone being rolled out every month. It is evident that I feel the emptiness of not having the latest Android smartphone, which is the Samsung Galaxy S2.

It seems like quite a time when I last mentioned something about Android, I guess the Holiday season left us too much occupied with Apple and the jailbreak stories. Anyways coming to the current stir on the latest release of Android; Gingerbread.

Google only recently started stirring its Android fans with the official release of Android 2.3, more popularly known as Gingerbread starting from Nexus S. There has been haste in the developer community who only yesterday succeeded in porting Gingerbread to Samsung Galaxy S. That wasn’t it and it appears the Android has been kind enough to let the Nexus One have the latest version ported on to it.
Somehow this latest Android to previous Android porting sounds clichéd already. Folks at XDA have given us something more to cheer about, especially those with the outdated, Windows Mobile 6.5 by porting bits and pieces of Gingerbread to HTC HD2. Yes, the latest release of Android will and definitely can power your WM 6.5 HD2.

Is there anything that is impossible or undoable for the developers/hackers? I bet not! Give them anything new and the first thing they would want to do is modify or alter it to be in total command. Nexus S is no exception and some of those smart folks have already Rooted the Nexus S on Gingerbread.
In case you aren’t aware, Rooting your Android based device lets you play around and overclock your CPU, flash desired ROMS, get rid of the lousy Carrier loaded apps, etc. I did that on my HTC Desire and it looks better now and even more smarter folks have done this with the latest, Nexus S.

This is big! Nexus S, the so called superior device of the present boasting the latest Android build, version 2.3 or Gingerbread is now no more the lone fighter as folks at XDA have ported Gingerbread to the much older Samsung Galaxy S. I just love it when a developer is a step ahead of the fathers of some software, kudos to you!

Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread has blessed numerous Android based devices and we have been a bit confused on what the next version is going to be. I initially thought that Google would readily let go of the 2.x version after Froyo and that the next update would be 3.x. Wrong I was and I might just be wrong for the next update too.

The Android phones have done remarkably well. At least for one biggest reason that they the Google Mobile OS is not confined to a particular handset or a carrier much like the Apple iPhone. We have been hearing now and then about an all new Android phone from Sony Ericsson. The best bit about the gadget is that Sony is merging its mobile with the PlayStation to bring us the PlayStation Phone. And these are no longer rumors.
The device will come powered by the latest Android version called the Gingerbread. And will feature the Sony PlayStation Portable like keys. The PlayStation Phone is called the Zeus Z1 and with so many videos being leaked now and then, I am sure we will be having this in the markets by early January or maybe by Christmas.

When it comes to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread there has been quite a fuss associated to its release dates. We had initially thought of it releasing in November with the release of the Google Nexus Two from Samsung and then for the end November. But so far it has been everything but true. We are however anticipating it to be coming soon in December.

While I was away taking time off, I missed out the Samsung Mobile Event in New York and the possibility of the Samsung/Google Nexus Two. The news is that the release of the Nexus Two from Samsung has been delayed owing to some hardware issues in the device. Glad, Google didn’t rush with the release as it would have been quite a big blow to both Samsung and Google, in my humble opinion.
