I was talking about Facebook spending big bucks in my analysis yesterday to expand its business and reach, primarily owing to the high level of advertiser trust the social network has garnered in the last year. Today VentureBeat’s reports make that concrete as the social network acquired patents of Friendster.

While other social networks might be dwarfed by all eyes fixed on Facebook, etc there some players who continue to make moves and improve. Friendster is one of them and its planning to revamp its entire existence tomorrow. The purpose of this revamp is to make it stand out and make others in the category look very lifeless. Woah! Hold the horses there! That must have MySpace and Facebook hard, but it wouldn’t matter much to both, at least to Facebook.

Friendster has decided to call it quits as it put itself up for sale. Morgan Stanley will manage the proceedings of the sale to the numerous telecom companies in Asia. The social network has continued to make it big on the social networking scene in the region and leads the social networking scene in many Asian countries which include Singapore and Malaysia, but faces challenge there too with the ever growing influence of Facebook.
