image thumb154 After Digging A Grave With New Design, Kevin Rose Steps Down As CEO Of Digg

Something worthy to talk about for a change at Digg. First things first, I hate the new Digg, it’s crappy, in no man’s land and I have no idea what Kevin Rose was thinking when he updated it. Anyways Digg has got itself a new CEO, a position that had been held by Kevin Rose after Jay Adelson relinquished the position back in April. The position will now be taken by former Amazon Exec, Matt Williams.

Digg had been on the lookout for almost a month and I bet the title of CEO had added more pressure on the Young Kevin Rose, who in my personal opinion is not really up to the task. Rose will head back to his previous position as Chief Architect at Digg, a position he rightly deserves and is more suitable for him.

image thumb40 Watch all Digg shows at DiggTV

While Digg has been doing quite a lot of weekly shows, primarily Diggnation, which is hosted by its founders Kevin Rose an Alex Albrecht. The show discusses the top stories on Digg, however today Digg launched DiggTV which will provide Digg enthusiasts a single place to see all the shows. Some other shows include Digg Reel, which focuses on the top videos on the Web and Diggcetera to name a few. I guess its a good idea if you have quite a lot of fan following for all the shows and having a single destination for all this is definitely a good move.

image thumb43 WeFollow Follows into Digg’s Ownership

Looks like Digg found Kevin Rose’s Twitter directory worth having as it acquired WeFollow. The site lets users visit the site and and have themselves registered there. The site has grown quite exponentially over time with more than 650,000 followers. Well there has been no cash paid for this acquisition and it’s more like a transfer of personal ownership to Digg and with this, Digg will get its hands on the sort of data it needs from the much famed Twitter users. WeFollow will itself as it tries to find a better way to rate themselves by letting them tag their accounts to a category. Meaning the more accounts following one user tag themselves with the same that would make a particular account more trustable.

image thumb80 Digg: Redirecting users to Digg homepage is how DiggBar driving users mad

The Digg bar has got everything going wrong for itself. The current change has sort of set a fire to the bar’s already poor reputation as it fails to send users directly to the article if you use Digg URL shortener, if you are not logged on to the service. What nonsense! Why would a user who doesn’t want to use Digg go for such a long route to read an article? The first impression, which is also very true is that Digg wants to make sure that every person who isn’t a diggy should become one. I am not a big fan of Digg and I am not using it to share articles. Kevin Rose on the other hand is all lost and didn’t knew why this has gone live and will most probably have it killed. Why? Because this is the cheapest way to get traffic.

image thumb81 "There is no denying the power of both!" Digg enables sharing content on Twitter and Facebook.

Digg is not giving up any chances that may help it to continue as being a major runner when it comes to sharing information on the Web. It launched its Digg bar with its own URL shortener, which was targeted by many for being controversial and presently it took another major step. It released more sharing options that enable users to tweet or share any content on Digg on Facebook. You can also email the link to a friend (I bet very few will be interested in adopting this method). With the coming of these new sharing features, Digg has waved goodbye to its shout feature, which I think was badly needed, I had a great disliking for that feature.
