AOL has confirmed the shut down of CompuServe Classic after it had been providing services for almost three decades. The service provided a wide variety of services like online shopping, weather forecasts, etc and could rightly be called the Google of the past and was the leader with its quality service for a fraction of a price. But with the advent of broadband the population has continued its migration to the new mode and presently only 7% of users in the U.s continue with the dial-up to access the Internet. Users of the service will be able to use their existing CompuServe accounts with the new system without any charges by visiting the Mail Center.
