It has been a really long time when I last wrote a post on my experiences with blogging. One reason was I couldn’t allocate time for this, given the influx of news and posts that need to be covered and with all the tweeting. But I guess I can’t use the above reason as a scapegoat. The major reason is I had nothing valuable to share with the online community and I definitely couldn’t set myself a task to ramble about randomly and waste our readers’ time.

It seems like I have never written a blog post before, especially after Startup Meme being out for almost two weeks. We sincerely apologize our followers on Twitter, Fans on Facebook and our email and RSS subscribers for such a prolonged down time. The issue? Well we were migrating our host provider, which means Startup Meme in no more on Media Temple and are now hosted on DreamHost.
We aren’t going to discuss on what prompted us to make the shift but our experience with MT wasn’t really impressive but that’s past. We will be starting off with our regular posting procedure in the next 24 hours so expect Startup Meme to be making noise with news and tips.
I will be quite lost, bamboozled if a blogger comes up and says he hates using Facebook or will never user Facebook to promote his blog. I mean even Facebook haters would use the social network for the purpose. We do the same to promote our posts on our Fan Page [which you should join]. I thought it will be a good idea to share a few applications that can be used to help you with your blog’s publicity on the social network.

Google has definitely taken the cake away from many a services online, be it search or simply its Google Reader. One such service that has been hit the most is Bloglines which has had its days of success but is slowly decaying ready to fall in its grave. I wont call Google the only killer of Bloglines, there are other players who have taken its place by storm with the real time-ness to boast about; like Twitter, FriendFeed, etc. I am not pleased to see that it continues to keep its ‘beta’ site in beta after all this time and that there have been no new features for a very long time, which are all indications of a site undergoing the last rituals to head into a coffin. Bloglines has got a lot to do if it is to push me off the pessimistic approach I have towards its future.
It hurts a lot when you are targeted by a group of gossip lovers/creators and Valleywag is a master at doing so. While it may have targeted many, Gawker‘s tech gossip column has definitely got quite a label from Peter Thiel. The CEO of PayPal and also a Facebook investor and hedge fund manager has called Valleywag the Al-Qaeda of the Silicon Valley (perhaps he avoids naming Owen Thomas the leader). While this sounds amusing, poor, or whatever categories you would put that in, to me it appears that Thiel had reached his melting point after being targeted on numerous occasions by Gawker. Plain frustration and anger to second it. I guess he had nothing better to do that just draw a comparison of the blog to terrorists. I was quite surprised reading:
