Technorati, the blog search engine, expanded its third round of financing to include some more investors and a raise a few more bucks. The company raised $7.6 million in third round of financing last June and have now expanded it to $11.52 million. DG Incubation, the operator of Technorati Japan, is listed as a new share holder. Previous investors in the company include Draper Fisher Jurvetson, August Capital and Mobius Venture Captial.

Technorati is facing increasing pressure from search services like Google Blog Search and Sphere and Blogging social networks like MyBlogLog. They have recently acquired PersonalBee and are also on the outlook for a new CEO to take the company to an IPO or an acquisition.

It has been confirmed that Technorati is now looking for a new CEO to head the company. Technorati has hired New York based James & Company to carry out the CEO hunt for the company. Techcrunch is reporting that the company is trying to reach out to potential candidates in Silicon Valley and elsewhere for last few weeks now.

Technorati has recently reported healthy stats about the blogosphere and itself. The company employees were told about the Head hunt last week. When people reported about the publishing of stats by Technorati as a tactic to entice potential suitors, CEO Dave Sifry actively denied it, a stand that has become way too common in the industry now.

Dave Sifry, the CEO of Technorati who usually publishes statistics about the blogosphere has decided to unveil some stats about Technorati, or is it that he now thinks that the state of Technorati is in fact the state of blogosphere itself.

According to Dave, Technorati had 9 million unique visitors during the last month as against 3.5 million two months ago. He further points out that the page views have increased 53% in March, and 141% over the last three months. However the exact numbers on page views were not disclosed. Statistics are not something Technorati has ever disclosed, but may be they now want the potential suitors to know how big they are and how fast they are growing. Another point that they wanted to make was “We are ahead of Google Blog Search by all ends and means“.
