The iPhone must be big and it is digestible that the major reason for Android’s boom is that it has support of many mobile manufacturers. But that shouldn’t take away the credit that Google has given a great platform for mobile devices to leverage. Of course it has some security threats after the first Trojan attacked the devices in Russia.

Ever felt that there should be an easy for you to shift the websites you most often visit on your desktop to be readily available on your phone? Well Google today released Chrome to Phone for all phones running the Android [version 2.2 only].
This tool enables you to easily push websites you are visiting on your Chrome browser directly to your mobile device. This had been created by Dave Burke and it is quite simple to use. You can enable this by clicking a mobile icon on your browser and porting the sites to your phone. This can be done for any web page you visit. While all this sounds quite simple to come from Google, pushing forward websites isn’t the only thing it does. Chrome to Phone also does the same with directions and phone numbers.
This one is big, at least for me given that I am a big of Sony Play Station and the Android platform. Reports are rolling in of Sony Ericsson is in works to release a gaming smartphone. If I am not wrong, it’s going to be an amalgamation of the Sony Playstation Portable, [the PSP], perhaps the Sony Ericsson Xperia and running on the Google Android version 3.0. I am excited for sure.
Now many of you would feel their pockets and check why they don’t own an iPhone! Dating Site OkCupid just released a study which highlights association between their smartphones and the sexual history. Put it anyway you like, but I am already figuring out why I am the one left out, I don’t have an iPhone!
Jokes apart, the study put forth is based on OKCupid analyzing data in images that users upload, their activity thanks to the apps and personality tests like The Dating Persona Test, etc and compiling them as one report. The age group was confined to 30 years for both male and females and had interesting results, of course Fascinating for the iPhone users and those aspiring to have one. The reports, might not necessarily reflect hard facts but a gist of it is given in the graphs below.
One of the biggest reasons why Apple gets my respect is its devices are not susceptible to being infected with viruses. We have seen loads of these in Microsoft Windows PCs and laptops but not with the Macs, the MacBooks, iMac, etc. Today that immaculate and virus free award also went to Apple iPhone, as Google’s Android phones got a taste of a first Trojan, perhaps the first for any smartphone.
It is an SMS Trojan known as SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a and is already wild on many Android phones out there. The Trojan comes as a media player app and once installed, it auto sends SMS to the contacts in your mobile device. Of course this happens without you wanting or not. Kaspersky Lab, a leading security firm reports that the Trojan is currently infecting Russian Android devices, however, given the nature of such viruses it should be noted that they will soon be roaming free across the web. Google has recently launched a free service, ‘App Inventor for Android’ and it is causing a big stir. This is a program that claims to allow people with no Java programming experience to design their own apps for Android OS smart phones.
One thing that keeps me from buying an iPhone is that I have absolutely no idea how to run Android on the device. The reason being I love the Android for being the most powerful mobile operating system coming from Google and at the same time have all respect to the perfect hardware from Apple in the form of the iPhone.
I decided to Google out a few tutorials to see if there are better ways to hack the iPhone 2G primarily because it is dead cheap in the region and it wont hurt me if I tested the hack. I came across a few How To’s to get this done. It appears that folks at Linuxiphone and AndroidaLot have already put hacks to answer queries of folks like myself. The video below is quite detailed and explains the steps quite well. You can follow the instructions to be followed here.
The Android Operating System tops the mobile operating market with a 33 percent share. I feel I shouldn’t be praising Android, despite being a huge Google fan. Come on folks it isn’t a big achievement to lead the operating system market primarily for the fact that Android based devices are raining in the market like cats and dogs. Pardon me, I know many dislike me being so blunt, but it is a plain old fact.
