If Google goes about to shut down a service it doesn’t mean the search giant is under some trouble, it simply means the service shut down wasn’t much useful. Its acquisition of Teracent, the amount of which remains undisclosed. Teracent creates display ads that are customized to meet the needs of a category of consumers and sites. This follows another similar acquisition of AdMob earlier this month.

Acquisitions can have a very positive affect on your firm and Bwin Interactive Entertainment‘s shares rose up upon confirming of its acquisition of Gioco Digitale. There hasn’t been any official word on the deals finances but the rumors put it close to $143 Million. The acquisition isn’t a surprise move as Bwin had indicated its plans to expand business which provides audio and video streams to casino and sports betting in more than two dozen or so International markets.

image thumb122 Amazon’s investments in a diagram, a picture does speak a thousand words and an equal number of blog posts!

Some of us just won’t get the swarm of texts in order to be informed and if the need arises, one does so reluctantly, believing that a picture says a thousand words. Apparently someone on the Web though of it and decided to put all of Amazon’s investments as a visualization. This comes right after Amazon’s purchase of Zappos for more than $900 Million. Appears pretty neat, more like a circuit diagram. To be honest I find it better to read a post and write about it instead of trying to follow the diagram. image thumb116 Confirmed: 3DV Systems has been acquired by Microsoft, definitely behind Project Natal

3DV Systems Israeli startup that develops the technology to detect shapes and motion had been acquired by Microsoft, the news which has been confirmed by Microsoft today. There has been no confirmation about the price for which the acquisition was made but it’s close to the $30 Million to $35 Million range as had been rumored. Many of 3DV’s employees will continue work at Microsoft’s research and development center in Israel. The acquisition holds a key value and will prove to be useful since Microsoft develops its own gaming console, the XBox which fill find its technology more than useful, especially since it begun working on Project Natal.

While China might be blocking a countless sites in the country, which include Twitter, Plurk and Bing from being accessed for no obvious reason, one of its company, Alibaba Group is all set to expand. The group plans to invest more that $200 million in acquisitions in the coming years. Head of Alibaba’s strategic investment unit, Wei Zhang stated that these investments would follow the $73 million it has already spent for the same purpose lately. He also stated that Alibaba would make those acquisitions in mobile, e-payment areas specifically and the focus will be on global market. While it’s nice that firms from the mainland are shifting focus to be more global, I think it will be even better if it could relax its policies on blocking sites.
