If you own a very creative (read simply creative) domain on the web, you are lucky. Why? Well if it attracts someone with a sizeable value in cash, you will be a millionaire by simply signing it off to someone else. Presently, Candy.com has been purchased by G&J Holdings for $3 million. Quite expensive for a candy, anyone will pay that much when you have got close to a million searches a month for the word alone. Now each name on the web is unique and creative enough, but what makes it worth all that cash is how much traffic that particular web property pulls in and secondly how simply creative is the domain name and Candy.com has both. Reports state that G&J will be using the domain to become the online store for candies. Talk about an expensive bite.
