Hospitality and travel startup, Tripping, launched itself today hitting on the much important travel and tourism side of the Web. The idea is to give all the travelers a portal to come together and share their views and opinions about places, localities. If I am not wrong, isn’t this quite similar to what Doppler did and other travel sites?
What it does is bring you closer to locals, especially if you are planning to travel far and across. I mean there is no point in asking your agent to advise you on your trip when you can have a local provide you with the details. For example, if you are planning to visit Karachi, a local resident will tell you what places you can stay at for cheap, the where you can find the best place to eat or simply hang around. This way you are also getting to know a local far better.
If you don’t happen to be traveling, you can always show your hospitality by promoting yourself as a welcoming host. Lets say you are in New York and if you come across a person planning a trip to your city, you can extend your support and host the person. The idea is simply to connect both locals and visitors alike, helping a better and more effective cultural exchange.
To end it, I would simply take back my earlier statement that it isn’t just another Doppler or TripAdvisor, but a step ahead. It’s more of a social network for travelers and hosts across the globe. Pretty interesting and managing your profile on the startup is quite manageable. I am still exploring the startup for more features, lets see how much worth it is the time spent.
