Rowdii is a new web utility that brings search and social media closer together. Rowdii’s search engine allows users to make an online profile and interact, as well as use the search engine. Rowdii has 2 core functions; firstly it automatically generates a social forum next to every website in the world. Secondly, it allows users to link related websites to each other. Both Rowdii Forums and Linked Sites can be accessed from a web-based version, or a Firefox browser add-on.
The Melbourne, Australia-based Rowdii – through its Forums feature – allows people with similar interests the opportunity to socialize with each other via the websites they like. Whilst also allowing you to start discussions related to the site you are viewing. You can even attach images, files or videos. These forums allow you to provide honest feedback about products and services being promoted on the web.
Rowdii has two versions: A web based version which’s accessible from the homepage; and a browser based version that allows you to access the forum and linked sites with just a press of browser based buttons. This feature provides all the functionality without having to return to the Rowdii website. You can either use the search engine without registering on Rowdii, however if you like to add or rate a comment, share files, add links or send private messages to Rowdii members, you need to become a registered member.
With Rowdii, you can check out the Linked Sites page to find other sites related to the ones you’re viewing. You can then rate these links (so popular ones move up the list). It gives people the chance to choose, through its type of intelligent site categorization. You can do normal Web searches as well, jut like on any other search engine.
Also, with the Rowdii Firefox add-on, you search the web and the links automatically update in a portion of your browser window. It’s like an auto-complete keywords feature that shows websites that you may be interested in, without having to do the actual search.
Through Rowdii users can review websites and instantly access the feedback left by previous users. Rowdii is also designed in such a manner that it kills growing problem of online fraud. The service allows consumers to instantly warn others if they’ve had a negative experience with a particular web-service/business.
Through a combination of conventional search and an innovative social media component, Rowdii allows empowerment to consumers and fundamentally changes the way you use the web.
Rowdii is designed to work with Firefox Version 3.0 or later and is compatible with both Mac and PC computers.

This is really interesting, will linking sites help rankings in the traditional search engines?
Will be one to watch?

I don’t think it matters. The idea is that it will drive traffic to your site without people having to search for you through traditional search engines. It kind of bypasses the search stage by linking your directly to related websites.

yeah adding to Dave’s comment, simply putting it… when users rate the services, the search engine puts them up a notch, and then they appear a few places above (or below) their usual spot.

I think it will make things easier and more relevant to find, ie. you go to a site and want to find their competitor’s or an alternative place to review/shop it would work well. Or you want find out locally where to purchase a product which is what I tried to do when buying a new watch I saw online a month ago – went to search and it was to hard.
