Electronic Arts has recently announced the release of Spore that is developed by Will Wright and published by Maxis. The downloadable version of the game will be available for its hungry users from the 17th June.
According to Will Wright, the game was initially named as Sim Everything which was giving an impact of The Sim. So, in order to get rid of any misconceptions and to reveal an idea of uniqueness, he changed its name to Spore. It could be one of the reasons for the delay in its release (as it was expected to be released in the Sept 07). He has added more web 2ish features hoping to attract as much number of users as The Sim did.
The Spore offers a creature creator that allows its users to create a multi-celled 3D species from a single cell with intuitive and simple interface. The idea is to make a diversified universe out of a single cell. The whole concept is based on 5 steps that help nurturing the imaginary world in to a 3D world. Users can start with a micro cell and end up into a macro civilization and Space. This really sounds exciting and full of fun as you can initialise with a single celled amoeba and can end up making a multi-celled monster.
The Spore Creator contains the YouTube Video Creation that facilitates its users to share seamless video stream with others. They can even email their self-made creatures to their buddies.
The Spore Store will allow its users to purchase external Spore licensed stuff such as T-shirts and posters. Spore is working in collaboration with Comic creation software so that players can release their own created Spore comic book. Users can put Widgets on their social network to keep their friends updated about their latest creations along with an RSS feeds that helps in keeping track for the feedbacks.
The software is providing an opportunity to design, upload and share self-made creatures and species with thousands of users using SporePedia. It enables them to completely manage and organize their own games allowing them to search from Web also.
With Spore, anyone can be creative - make whatever you can imagine with easy built-in Creator tools. Then create and guide your unique personal creature on an epic journey of discovery.
The free demo contains 25 % of available creatures that are found in the paid version(will be available by this September for $9.99). The pre- released version will maximize the population of the Spore game space by adding more user created content. According to GigaOm, the site will be releasing different game pages in multi-lingual forms, this is also a good way of capturing world wide fans and users.
Overall, Spore- the single player online game seems to be a great hit because of its features and designer of course. And I am looking forward to use its downloadable version.
