Soup.io is a new startup that does something similar to tumblr but with an extremely rich feature set. The site allows you to create a souplog on which you can easily post text, quotes, photos, videos and files.

In addition to this you can also create groups, as in yahoo groups, and share your postings with the group and see to what others in the group are sharing. Users can also easily browser through the soups of their friends, friends of friends and the entire network. This are the two features that I really wish twitter have had for quiet some time now.

Soup.io also allows you to post by email, change skins and include a lot of other elements (Friends list, Avatar, Dates, Groups, Galleries) to your soup.io blog.

The service is extremely easy to use and also has a sample account whereby you could try the service without signing up. Soup.io is backed by YEurope, a YCombinator like startup fund, that operates in Europe and is based in Vienna, Austria.
