The Independent has dug some of the famous predictions which went wrong. Check out the some of the famous incorrect predictions below:

iPod: no future:

In an interview in February 2005, Amstrad chief, Sir Alan Sugar said, “Next Christmas, the iPod will be dead, finished, gone, kaput”. It proved wrong as 174 million units of the media player have been sold through out the world and it lasted for more than a Christmas.

Rocket mail:

In 1959 Arthur Summerfield, the United States postmaster general said, “We stand on the threshold of rocket mail”. Well email is here.

Computers are not really for home use:

In 1977 the co-founder of Digital Equipment Corp., Ken Olsen said, “there is no reason for any individual to have a computer at his home”. Now we have over a billion people having computers at home.

The end of spam:

Bill Gates predicted in the 2004 World Economic Forum, “Two years from now spam will be solved”. If you have an email account, you can testify against this.
