SocialText 3.0 is out with its enterprise mash of popular web services like, Facebook, wiki, FriendFeed and microblogging. Added together in one platform, SocialText 3.0 has got what it takes to standout as a formidable force in the Web world. With the core services of the above mentioned services, it also adds in it SocialText People and Dashboard, along with a planned SocialText Signals,a.k.a Twitter for Enterprise.
This makes SocialText 3.0 yet another social network with a touch of real work, enabling people to describe themselves as well as learn about other people and know about their activities. Users can edit the information/streams as they are uploaded with the help of its Dashboard, more like a wiki. This lets people share anything as well as let the combined efforts of each make the uploaded streams more detailed and informative.
In short SocialText 3.0 adds work to your social networks making them more effective and useful. Signals however adds more to the already growing microblogging features and is different in a way that it lets users communicate more privately and in context of a company. So it sets it apart from the newer Twitter like services (Yammer, Present.ly, etc). In his blog post, co-founder of SocialText mentioned:
With the rise of Twitter, more people are learning the benefits of microblogging as a medium for conversations and sharing each day. SocialText developed a standalone version six months ago. … The social patterns of what people say and share has taught us a lot about potential use cases. Now in private beta with SocialText customers, SocialText Signals will provide an integrated user experience across SocialText Workspace, SocialText Dashboard and SocialText People.
With solutions that stick to the process-requirement, SocialText offers its users, faster means of communication, sharing view points from other users. Well we’ll have to wait and see how successful the concept moves ahead.
