Smushit: Optimize images in a flash

Sardar Mohkim Khan

image99 Smushit: Optimize images in a flashImage optimization turns out to be pretty hectic and time consuming and anything that can make it easier is more than  welcome. Smushit makes the entire process of image optimization  efficient and quick.

There are quite a lot of problems associated to file re-sizing, the biggest being the visual details being altered and changing image size doesn’t usually get the best out. Smushit uses image  optimizing tools that help one squeeze the large image to the smallest possible size it can be without taking away the look and feel of the original image.

Users can simply upload multiple images and have them smushed. The site keeps giving reports to the user, letting one know what amount of bytes is saved on each image and converting each of the smushed images into a single downloadable zip file. Users can use Smushit via various ways; users can simply upload multiple images using the upload option in the browser or simply provide the URL where you have your images being uploaded. Smushit would extract and resize them into a zip file.

And it’s definitely  not that manual as it sounds since users can grab in the Firefox Extension and use it to optimize images on any web page they visit. Users don’t have to specify the smallest size or anything, simply select and upload; the rest is done by Smushit.

I find the service pretty ok as it’s fast and lives up to to what it says. Smushit is definitely the service for those who want a quick way to optimize images.
