Mobile are seeing a peak in usage when it comes to surfing the web with the iPhone leading the market. It currently accounts for 50% of all the web traffic coming from smartphones. It has taken the bite off Windows Mobile and RIM share as it accounted for a mere 10% in the August 2008 statistics. The Android based HTC G1has already grown to a 5% share, not discouraging at all given the fact that it has only been in working for a little over three months. Those stats are for the US market alone, as Symbian OS based mobiles continue to reign the international market with a 43% although it has taken a dip from 64%.
It’s all a matter of time before both iPhone and Android will dominate the market. What will be interesting to see is how the two compete to beat the other. Of course the iPhone has a clear edge but I am not throwing away my bid on the Android as well. Let’s see what effect does HTC Magic has on Android’s market share.
