While many must be enjoying the coming of Skype to the iPhone there is bad news for Skype as T-Mobile Germany bans the app. That means you can’t use alternative ways (jailbreaks, workaround methods). Authorities state that users who will be found using Skype in any manner on the iPhone will be penalized by having their license cancelled. Skype wasn’t far behind and returned with a blog post stating:
They pretend that their action has to do with technical concerns: this is baseless. Skype works perfectly well on iPhone, as hundreds of thousands of people globally can already readily attest.

I really think that’s not fair. Why would they want to ban skype? If you have an iPhone your paying for it anyway, whether you call using skype or using your service…

they probably do it so you have to use the service. skype is ridiculously cheaper than the service, and they want money

They just don’t want you using a cheap way to call, why should they even lose a penny?

Sounds like a good way to cancel your contract early

But you need the contract for internet anyway. It’s only useful if you only call in a WiFi environment…

There is absolutely no way that T-Mobile could cancel an account for this. Skype only works through WiFi and that is not T-Mobile’s network.
Also who would complain. That would indeed be a great way to cancel your contract.
