Six Apart, a startup that offers a Movable Type blogging software as well as TypePad blogging services recently laid off 8 percent of its staff. As covered by Startup Meme, the San Francisco-based company had earlier boasted claims of blogging being an elevated service in times of economic crisis, and yet this goes down. A blog post about the recent happening was made by Chris Alden, chief executive of the company, as he states:
“So why are we doing this? First, as with many companies these days we are being proactive about keeping our expenses low.”
“Second, with so many changes in 2008, and looking forward to the changing market 2009, we have to rebalance our organization accordingly.”
It is notable that Alden himself is taking a 15 percent pay cut.
