Scribd introduces iPaper: No More Headaches viewing email Attachments

Sardar Mohkim Khan

Scribd logo Scribd launches its iPaper@Scribd; a feature that saves users of the headaches related to viewing attached items in an email. This is done by enabling users to convert their attachments to the company’s iPaper format.

The documents once attached can be viewed in any browser that supports Flash thus eliminating the need to work out a way to view the attachments.

Scribd With a simplified procedure; all that has to be done is CC ipaper@scribd. Com on the email message and the recipients receive links to the file attachments that have been Scribd. The alternative suggests that you simply send the attachment to iPaper@Scribd and in return get a link that you can forward to the recipients you want to share the file with. It offers support to a wide range of document formats.

However there is one thing that might be irritating for users; which is every time you send an attachment using Scribd, your recipients get two messages, the original and another one (the one that has a link) and another that Scribd sends having the iPaper version. But again they are following the obvious ‘nothing is free’.

The documents are set up as private; meaning they are not indexed and are not searchable over search engines. Might still be risky as you can’t go along sharing sensitive documents over something as public as the Internet, otherwise it is the best option to eliminate the pain of sending huge files over email.
