The economy must have made every firm boot out employees, but RIMM is doing the opposite by hiring. It is planning to recruit more than a thousand employees (1,250) in its R&D and product development department. The reason is to boost its development of products that can compete the smartphone market that is presently clouded by Apple and Google.
