The American Journal for Geriatric Psychiatry,in it’s recent study, mentioned that Internet searches can actually help strengthen the aging brain – thanks to the greater mental "activity" that it undergoes while waiting for the search results and the following "scan".
The brain responds to any activity it is undergoing, creating a "mental reserve" which is said of being capable of lessening the effects of the inevitable – mental aging.
DARN THAT’S SUPERB!!!
In a recent research, some amazing results popped up using MRI equipments monitoring the cranial activity of Heavy Internet Users and The Regulars.
The Process:
The subjects were provided two tasks to complete inside within the MRI machine. The tasks being:
-
One task included reading text formatted just like another typical book page,
-
The second being a simple Internet search.
The topics provided for both were similar, Given four minutes to complete.
The Result:
During the reading of the text, the level of brain activity and fluid flowing through the brain was more or less same in both categories of subjects.
But significantly, the internet search engaged the user much more in attention and the amount of brain activity increased with more brain fluid flowing and increasing blood activity. The brains Normally inactive portions were also active significantly.
This experiment cannot define that this is rather true fro all, rather a more large set of subjects would define more precisely how much is this valid, but as far as my own experience, I am intrigued by the searches I do on Google and Live.com seeking each page, and especially while reading Wikipedia, I tend to be more focused on specific keywords and details so I don’t miss a thing, plus the fun part being, you get to do it with a mouse and keyboard!!!

Beats me how this can happen.
I do however know that my kids can do many more things at the same time.
I used to watch TV. What they do is three things all at the same time.
1. Watch TV
2. Have an SMS Conversation
3. Have a Facebook conversation
ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Maybe, since they’ve been on the net since a real young age their brains have adapted better than mine and are used to being far more flexible and nimble.
By the way, try and change the channel on them and they’re on to you in a flash, so maybe they’ve got capacity to do even more things at the same time!!

Yes Andee, very true that kids catch you while changing channels even while they are surfing face book, or texting, it’s quite remarkable how the human brain can adapt simultaneous activity.
If this research turns out to be true, then hopefully we would have concrete evidence to say WE ARE MULTITASKING BEINGS due the advent of the Internet.
