Reputation Defender, a startup that aims to protect your reputation online, has raised $2.6 million in Series A. The round was lead by European Founders Fund with Maples Investments and RP/JA Investments participating in the round.
The basic idea behind the startup is that with the proliferation of social media and ease of publishing it is much more likely for someone to upload defaming pictures or videos of you or your family. Reputation Defender aims to put an end to it, and targets such posts, photos and videos on your behalf.
The company offers four services namely: MyChild, MyReputation, MyPrivacy and MyEdge. MyChild ensures that your teens online reputation is protected and no one is abusing him online. MyReputation does the same thing with your reputation. MyPrivacy aims to protect your personal contact, social security and financial information. MyEdge safe guards your reputation on Search Engine Results and ensures that articles or web pages that put you in good light are listed above other things.
Each of these services comes with a monthly subscription plan. The company is led by Owen Tripp, who was the founder of User Behavior Intelligence at eBay. Prior to this round the company had raised $1 million in angel funding.
