RealDVD Shut Down by the Court Temporarily

Shoaib Hashmi

RealDVD LogoRealDVD has been temporarily shut down by a court with an order. With this decision the network would have to suspend the distribution of the RealDVD product (software) which got into controversy. The service will be suspended until Tuesday and in the mean time the judge will review the filed papers of the case.

If you visit the RealDVD site, you will be greeted with the following message under the heading of “RealDVD is currently unavailable”:

Due to recent legal action taken by the Hollywood movie studios against us, RealDVD is temporarily unavailable. Rest assured, we will continue to work diligently to provide you with software that allows you to make a legal copy of your DVDs for your own use.

The controversy arose when Hollywood showed its concern over the RealDVD, just after its launch. Now the current situation is very interesting, but we have to wait till Tuesday atleast so that the judge will be able to make some decision.
