epaperscreen thumb thumb Qualcomm debuts E Paper display

Qualcomm has created a display screen for a waterproof MP3 player, helping you to see clearly on bright sunny days. It’s a color e-paper display which means that it has no backlighting, and the user can easily read the content shown in direct sunlight. The display has two layers of a reflective material, and the mechanism is as such that some wavelengths of light bounce off the first layer, thereby bouncing off the second layer, whereas also letting in some. The interference between these two beams creates the color, and electrostatic forces keeps control of the distance between the layers. You can check out the product here.
