Pownce, the twitter clone that had nothing exceptional to its credit except for being a Kevin Rose startup, is now going belly up. The service that will be shutting its doors by the mid of this month was once termed as “the hottest startup in Silicon Valley”. Pownce users should migrate their messages and media to twitter if they are not on twitter already. However I highly doubt this, as I think that most of Pownce users already came to Pownce from twitter and when Twitter finally get a clue about its scaling issues, they just abandoned the Pownce ship. Apparently SixApart has acquired the company or may be has just hired Leah Culver – Pownce co-founder and Mike Malone – Pownce engineer, because you cant be called sane to buy a startup for some cash just to shut it down in a fortnight.
