There is no dearth of image editing software available across the web and each one off them comes claiming in to be better than the others already present and Pixlr is another one; a bit different for its web-based and works from within a browser. And it’s free; with a feeling of MS. Paint a hundred years in future (seriously MS. Paint still remains the same since the last Stone Age).
The platform serves its purpose for the non-professional crowd who just require basic editing needs like blurring, applying a few effects etc so don’t expect hi-fi interface that lets you play with advance image editing tools.
The platform is Flash based, so if it stucks while you upload your image don’t blame the service, try to get rid of unnecessary applications that a re taking up CPU memory and the flashing flash ads. The images are first uploaded onto the server and then downloaded to the application where users can edit it. Therefore the only time you need to wait for is hardly a couple of seconds (on my machine that’s ancient compared to present standards:-().
The purpose of Pixlr is to make online image editing fast, efficient and fun without hurling at its users the compulsion to sign up, just hit jump-in and you are up for the editing.
I didn’t quite like the thought of working upon the application but as I used it, I found it worth the time I spent editing my picture (keep the laughs to yourself, I am not a professional:p):
