The idea of sharing various media from music to your photos with friends has become a pretty common demand and every now and then a service pops up offering users multitude of functions and ease at sharing their stuff. Emailing pictures with time has turned confined to only sharing very images, but when it comes cross network sharing of one of your favorite moments that has been captured by your camera; the idea to share with everyone in an instant becomes must.
Pikter is one such site that enables its users to submit their images, email or MMS them to their Pikter account. Once the images are being transferred, users can then post them to their preferred image sharing networks like Flickr, Picassa, etc.
The service shortens the task of updating your albums at photo sharing sites plus letting your friends at Twitter/Jaiku know what latest image has been uploaded by you. Pikter lets you assign permissions to every one; whether you want your images open to public comment (a.k.a non Pikter viewers), set images/albums as public or private etc. This lets you feel comfortable as you know the people who are commenting.
The service is pretty sleek and there have been rapid developments in a short span, extending Picassa support recently to their support for multiple language. I for one however found the service of sending pics via MMS directly to Pikter very useful as it enables photographing enthusiast to snap an inspiring/funny moment with their phones and send it directly to Pikter. Sharing on the go makes Pikter far more effective image sharing tool.
