‘Picateers’ the online photo sharing site for young fund raisers, gets $6.6M

image172 ‘Picateers’ the online photo sharing site for young fund raisers, gets $6.6MPicateers, is an online photo sharing site that lets schools, teams and organizations to run their own portrait programs while raising the fund. The San Mateo, California based company has raised an amount of $6.6 million in the series B. The round was backed by investors including the Norwest Venture Partners.

Schools and parents are allowed to set up an online shop where they can sell photos themselves. 25% of the whole proceedings goes back to purchaser’s favourite school/organization. On each sale the school/team gets 50%, so there is something for everyone.

According to the company’s website:

Parents enjoy safe, secure, 24/7 online access to their children’s photos-along with the ability to buy online and get their portraits printed on gifts such as mugs, T-shirts and mousepads. The more they buy, the more money goes back to their school.

With the previous funding of $5.5 million, two years ago, company’s total raise amount raised has reached $12.1 million.
