Yahoo! Yes Yahoo for stakeholders as they read the latest letter from Yahoo reveals that the company might very well strike a deal with Microsoft, stating that it might sell its shares for $33 each. However there have quite a lot of demands put up that clearly state how exactly the proposal from Microsoft becomes acceptable by Yahoo and the stockholders are guaranteed the real value.
The letter issued by Roy Bostock and Jerry Yang has clarified as to why they have been discontent with Icahn’ plans and Yang making sure at hurling enough stones at Microsoft/Icahn team, there must have been some discussion within the Yahoo premises after they had declined the proposal from Microsoft (something that made Microsoft cry in the Senate hearing over the Yahoo/Google deal). Yang still keeps his verdict about Icahn stating that the stockholders need not trust him.

Last month we reviewed the startup ‘Viviti’, which is a free content management and website builder. It lets you create the website easily with a pro look. The site is very helpful for people who have little or no knowledge about web development. Now the startup has released its new build 0.1.4 which contains over 80 fixes, improvements along with some new features. User feedback has played a vital role in this release.
The tool bar has been redesigned along with a new status bar. Now you can see how many blog comments you have got. The newly added status bar sends you notification from the site and also allows you to change editing modes for previewing or bug checking. With the new option the toolbar can either be hidden or shown. When hidden, the editing features are disabled.

Google has had acquired quite a lot of companies up late; JotSpot, Blogger, DodgeBall to name a few and quite surprisingly all of them had been flashing up at being leaders in their respective arena. Blogger before 2003, lead the blog platform by a very large scale and since its acquisition in February 2003, it has somehow choked itself up. The reasons for this being; lack of support, no new features and barely enough improvement All this came since it was acquired by Google. That’s just one story of the very many that need to be told but we wont stick to them.

You may be one of many people who can’t travel around the world exploring new places due to lack of time or resources. Google Earth has been very helpful in this regard as it allows you to move anywhere, any time. Although the service is good but the chance of improvement or enhancement is always there. Using mouse and keyboard while navigating through the application seems a little old fashioned as the world is moving towards the better enhanced technology i.e. ‘Multi-Touch’.

There has been a lot of talk about TiVo aiming at having YouTube videos put on TV; something that has been considered by CEO Tom Rougers; a key part and a rescue plan at protecting the company. This is deemed to make TiVo subscribers to watch their content on their big screens, turning TiVo into a broadband device and giving you a fulfilling experience of what you watch.
As reported by Michael Learmonth, TiVo has put the accelerator on to upgrade their software and start off with YouTube videos on TiVo Series 3 and HD boxes. What’s the difference then between the AppleTV and TiVo? TiVo lets you do what AppleTV doesn’t; to record what you watch and skip commercials. Something users had been looking up for quite a long time.

Silicon Alley Media is founded by Kevin Ryan, Dwight Merriman, and Henry Blodget. Henry Blodget is not a new name in journalism, whereas Kevin Ryan is the former CEO of Double Click. So the team behind this new media adventure is rock solid and battle hardened. This is why Silicon Alley Insider has risen sharply among the ranks of other technology blogs within just one year.
Rafat is reporting that the less than $1 million has been raised at a valuation of $6 million. The group of investors include Allen Morgan who was a former partner at Mayfield. Google’s web based email system always strive to add more features and functions to make it more user friendly and compatible. Recently added Starring feature that helps its users to sort out messages according to their priority by using icons, is one of the latest example. In extension to this, Gmail is rolling out an additional contact feature that will allow users to operate their address book in a manageable manner.
It is true that Gmail’s auto-updated contacts makes our address book messy and crappy. Though it has an advantage of adding every contact that you have ever mailed in your
address book making it auto-complete but at a times, is highly problematic as majority of unimportant number of contacts are automatically added into an address book. Therefore, Gmail is planning to add a feature that will make your address book clean and fresh and will provide you with an uncluttered contact list. The functionality that is expected to be rolled out next week will separate contacts in to two groups: “My Contacts” and ”Suggested Contacts”.

Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Youtube has entered into a revenue sharing agreement with Lionsgate, an independent film studio. Under the terms of the agreement Lionsgate will be offered a branded video channel on Youtube to broadcast its movie promos and clips.
Eversince Youtube’s acquisition by Google two years back, the video sharing website entered into revenue sharing agreement with power users, added annotations feature – allowing users to annotate their videos, launched screening room to allow publishers to get their films pre-screened, added support for traditional AdSense ad units, but inspite of all this Google is still finding it hard to make a decent revenue from Youtube.

Back in 2005, Google evangelized the No Follow tag to be inserted into all links that need not be followed by the Google bot. The links that were immediately designated to default to No Follow in a blog post were the links in the comment and the trackbacks. It was done because a lot of spammers, specially those promoting their medical subscriptions were abusing the public sites like blogs to game the search engines.
The problem was getting compounded by the lack of a reasonable comment spam detector. Due to this bloggers were literally unable to fight back, some responded by turning off comments altogether. All this however changed atleast for Wordpress by the arrival of Akismet. Akismet just simply works, it works such efficiently that I have to rarely delete a comment spam manually. Although it does catches some false positives too, that is some genuine comments also end up being flagged as spam. But this is the price I am happily willing to pay for the hard work that Akismet does for us.

We had reviewed Totspot a few weeks back; a sight dedicated for young ones. It lets users preserve their memories in a very well organized way so they can be cherished in the long run. This is done by letting you save such memories in the form of pictures, videos and texts so that you know exactly what the kid had been at the given time and date.
Totspot has introduced new features as said on their blog. The features include Public pages that let you display your kid’s videos and pictures for others to see and comment. The option to privatise is still there; which means you can protect your page with a password making it available only to those in family close friends. The feature had been requested to be put up by Totspot users as had been said by its founder Adam Katz.

The Saga that has continued since times so long that the count has been forgotten, Microsoft and Yahoo battle as one other entity watches them over, AOL, continually popping its head out and feebly asking whether it has a future with any one of them. There has been a lot of jibbing over the issue as lately Microsoft had planned that if a deal with Yahoo is to tick off, AOL would be merged with Web Pioneer and Time Warner taking a bit of a share in the combined firm.
