Seesmic launches Seesmic Desktop; a better threat to TweetDeck

image thumb54 Seesmic launches Seesmic Desktop; a better threat to TweetDeck

In a bit to out run Tweetdeck, Seesmic after realizing Twhirl wasn’t enough has released Seesmic Desktop. The desktop app runs on Adobe Air and like Twhirl it lets you handle multiple accounts in separate windows. With the release of Seesmic desktop, Seesmic will cease further addition of features to Twhirl and focus more on the new client. A few features include handling multiple accounts, support for social networks, search, etc. If Seesmic is paying full attention to this one, I can bet its here to give some serious competition to TweetDeck.

Google waved goodbye to another one of its key execs, Sukhinder Singh Cassidy president of Asia Pacific and Latin America. Cassidy will be taking position as Accel Partners’ CEO in residence something the reports state is just the first step towards better things. Cassidy also mentioned that she was all ready to take the next step and look for better opportunities. Well we will have to see if this move proves as good and lasting as her stint at Google. The other reason which might be the most important for those at higher management is Google’s success as it doesn’t let top management people put their ideas to practice, experimentation and all. With this issue there, the only place these innovative managers find suitable is to become a part of another developing business’ team; aka the CEO.

Dictionary.com the much famed online dictionary is now heading on to your favorite mobile device, the iPhone. The app features a database of around 300,000 definition and 80,000 synonyms plus pronunciations for those difficult words that you just can’t say. The app also lets you view definitions offline along with information on where the word originated from. A pretty useful app, especially for folks who love keeping a dictionary/thesaurus at hand to build up vocabulary.

While mobile social networking may have dominant powers in the likes of Facebook and MySpace, it wont stop the dwarfs to try and grow. Two such dwarfs have taken an initiative to grow taller as Limbo acquired Brightkite. Limbo would adopt the name of Brightkite and will continue with Brightkite’s team while Limbo’s Jonathan Linner will continue to be the CEO. Plus Limbo also announced raising $9 million in funding in a round led by Nexit Ventures in January, 2009. The combined userbase of both would now exceed a little further than two million. The move is pretty intelligent as it the combined efforts of both teams can definitely create a formidable challenge to others in the same league (the dwarfs that is).

Amazon, Apple, Wal-Mart increase prices on Music Tracks: That’s how you fleece addicted music lovers

image thumb47 Amazon, Apple, Wal Mart increase prices on Music Tracks: Thats how you fleece addicted music lovers

While firms would usually try to lessen prices of a few top selling MP3s to push sales, Apple made a full swing by increasing prices for those. And worse, Amazon and Wal-Mart consider the step worth following as they push the prices up for top selling tracks. Reports state that a few songs at Amazon will now be priced at $1.29 pushing past 99 cents while those at Wal-Mart go up from 94 cents to $1.24.  Not a good move, seriously first they increasing prices for what sells most and worse at the time of recession. We agree you need to make a few bucks too, but making such a huge leap, it’s a bit too harsh on music lover who have always paid to listen to quality music.
