We covered the story of outbrain, the new recommendation engine that lets you put recommendations for blogs and news content available on the web, in July.

I am going to cover some new features that the new version of outbrain has that was released:

Link Zapper
You now get more control over recommended links.

• the best recommendations (open to all content on the web)
• limited recommendations (open to just your own content)
• no recommendations at all

Link Zapper allows you strike out recommended links appearing on your site that you don’t think are up to snuff.

Performance Improvements
The outbrain widget’s loading performance has increased as well. A concept of  “lazy loading” is introduced to address blog home pages which, as you know, can be long and filled with many posts.
Web crawl and indexing is optimized as well.
