Oriango, a new search engine where going through white space and Ads is compulsory! (That’s how it’ll make you feel)

Oriango Searching over the net for content can be pretty tiring if you don’t have the right words to search for and even more irritating if the search engine displays far more results than you ever anticipate; articles containing your search word and when you click all it has is just your search word/phrase once in an entire piece. The idea of having an organized result sounds a big relief and Oriango adds to it with its no-registration just search, advertises and share contents for free.

Like a dictionary in organizing, but unlike it in a way that Oriango displays web contents instead of words we don’t know of. The site is updated by the users as they feed Oriango with their input and with the site just launched; the developers rely heavily on the users to add it up in the search engine race with a pretty modified functionality.

So is it just search? Oriango lets you submit your content be it sites, blogs, news what so ever and all the content added is organized alphabetically so that the next time you search you get only what you have typed in. The site allows you to be seen by the countless people over the web whenever they perform a search and it matches your keywords. Free publicity, free adding information, there is not much you would want and given its plain layout, the site appears simply easy on the eyes.

But Oriango fails miserably when you get down to business that is Search. The biggest flaw I found was the place where the results are displayed, deeeeeep down below; believe this is exactly how you would feel when you have to scroll down a mile to see the results and by the time you reach there you are so sick of the scrolling that you say Alright just forget it!

When a search engines first priority is to display the results once you hit SEARCH, then why have they wasted space for with a paint job of various sites and networks? Forget that, when you scroll down, the search word appears, and directly beneath that you see AdSense ads by Google! Is this what you call making the search easy? Or they do want us to watch and read through everything? I know its no compulsion, but seriously it’s a bug turn off when you have to scroll past USELESS items and then get to see what you searched for. The site has recently been launched and I very earnestly request the people behind it to do something about the Ads-O-Mania and put them in some other empty space, please.

Just have a glimpse at the WHITE SPACE and ads before  you actually discover your Search results after a perilous voyage.

My browser is Firefox. I checked it out on another system in IE, it works fine but still i would suggest that you do something about the layout.. you can shift the logo that you have, somewhere at the top or were you just trying to differ from the conventional layouts? No personal grudges here, but I as an end user found it pretty irritating that my Search word is displayed right the bottom and then you have the ads (I know they can be important) but it just doesn’t leave a great impression as things that wont matter to the user are given priority.

Hope you aren’t offended and I look forward to something being done about it.

It looks nice, clean, and presentable, I don’t see the site like your screen shots
I’m still a bit confused on how search results will be displayed…

That site has lots of potential!

The search is a bit confusing, what it does it puts up your search result in an alphabetical (rather Alphanumeric) order. You don’t really grasp how to end up looking out for it (in the beginning), why? I tell you those AdSense ads are so annoying and so out of place they make you think that the search ends up with no result.

Thanks Raphael hope that you read and find the information that is useful.

Hi Mohkim!

The result of search is simple, I understand

“How Oriango’s search system works?
Oriango looks for the terms of research through the “Add Content” like an URL, keywords and descriptions. After this search, the contents will be presented alphabetically by TITLE.”

http://www.oriango.com/faq.htm

But Oriango… its adsenses are really boring :(

That’s the major issue, i personall loved the net design, but when you make an impact with something so sothing to the eye and put up AdSensense before the user finds his wnted stuff/information you sort of appear more like revenue hungry. [:-(]
