Opera, one of the oldest browsers in the market ( and still with a relatively low share despite that… ) has partnered with Ask.com, also one of the oldest search engines in the market ( which ALSO has a relatively low share despite that! ). According to Download Squad, Opera and Ask.com’s partnership means that Ask.com will be the default search engine in the list of expandable search engines in the browser’s next version.
This is a strategy which Google and Firefox used to catapult Google’s market share in the search engine space. Microsoft also used this to make users aware of Live search to some effect. And Yahoo also comes as default with some OEM’s. But only time will tell if this strategy will have the same effect for Opera and Ask, as none of them have the market share that they would like to have.
