Google’s OpenSocial application platform turned one recently, marking its launch to fight Facebook’s ever-growing platform. The event took place at MySpace’s San Francisco office and brought together the platform’s top developers. This occasion also saw the announcement of Google’s Dan Peterson being named President of the Board of OpenSocial, and MySpace’s Alan Hurff being named Chairman of the Board.
The platform has seen a lot of growth in year 1 as it has been deployed by over 7,500 developers and records 315 million application installs across social networks like MySpace, Orkut, Bebo and Hi5.
