The rapid expansion the Internet in terms of speed, ubiquity and the bulk of services it provides to ease our daily lives, one thing that has evolved far more rapidly than anything else is the idea of online video. There barely used to be a place where one could get hands on such a platform and more importantly the state (read speed and bandwidth issues) of the Internet didn’t really allow for such a comfort.
Things have changed over this short period; Internet has evolved and with it the online video scene has changed by leaps and bounds. From merely being an idea to let users have a taste of streaming online videos to having thousands of sites offering the same without charging a penny and YouTube stands out as the giant.
YouTube over the recent years have amalgamated and encouraged millions of users to create, share and watch videos online, whether they are skits or your favorite songs, or a totally amateur home-made video. YouTube has what you look forward to.
CEO and co-founder of YouTube, Chad Hurley wrote in his blogpost:
Our goal is to allow every person on the planet to participate by making the upload process as simple as placing a phone call. This new video content will be available on any screen – in your living room, or on your device in your pocket.
With over 13 hours of videos uploaded every minute, the numbers speak volumes about where online video is heading up for and times not far hat online video broadcasting would become the most preferred and accessible form of communication. This is supported with the latest technology that grows smaller in size and more affordable, I mean we have the ability to record anything on the go with the latest cell phones and the idea of missing out any event worth recording and sharing with others is barely wasted. I agree with Chad fully with his statement:
Over the next decade, people will be at the center of their video and media experience. More and more consumers will become creators.
